Want to switch your plan?
Changing plans after you've enrolled
If you've enrolled into a plan that you are unhappy with, don't worry! There are multiple ways for you to change your plan throughout the year.
AEP & OEP
During the Annual Election Period (Open Enrollment Period), you can make a change to your Medicare Health Plan with an effective date of January 1st of the following year. This period happens every year from Oct 15- Dec 7.

During the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period, if you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan, you can:
-switch to another Medicare Advantage Plan (with or without drug coverage)

-disenroll from your Medicare Advantage Plan and return to Original Medicare (then add a part D plan)

SPAP
If you belong to a State Pharmaceutical Assistance Program (SPAP), you can use this as a one-time opportunity to change your Medicare Health Plan outside of your typical enrollment periods.

In New York State, one of these programs is called New York State EPIC. Your local agent will check if you qualify for this program.
SEP
You may also qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. These are special circumstances that can grant you an additional enrollment period throughout the year.
Some of these SEP's include:

- Moving outside of your service area

-You qualify for both Medicare & Medicaid

-You receive Extra Help paying for Medicare prescription drug costs.

-You are leaving an employer plan
